Professor of Social and Cultural Anthropology at Philipps-Universität Marburg. Doctorate (1997) and habilitation (2008) at the University of Vienna. Areas of focus: anthropology of conflict, environmental anthropology, anthropology of the South American lowlands. Current research interests: anthropology of the Isthmo-Colombian region, social consequences of climate change, consequences of the Colombian peace process, graphic communication systems.
