Christine Schweitzer

(*1959 in Hamburg), studied ethnology, among other places in Cologne (M.A.); doctorate in 2009 at Coventry University; worked, among other roles, as programme director at Nonviolent Peaceforce; currently executive director of the Bund für Soziale Verteidigung (Federation for Social Defence) and research associate at the Institute for Peace Work and Nonviolent Conflict Transformation. Co-founder, editor and regular author of the journal FriedensForum. Her focus areas are civil conflict transformation, social defence, nonviolent intervention in violent conflicts and civilian peacekeeping. Numerous publications on nonviolence, civilian peacekeeping, social defence and the conflicts in the former Yugoslavia.
